Where are the YMailers – Round 1

As promised, you will not be lacking in blog posts just because I am traveling. Comment responses…now that’s another story. I’ll get cracking on those as soon as I return.

In the meantime, it’s time for user submitted pictures! You may recall that a few weeks back I was inspired by the Where The Hell Is Matt video, and asked you all to send in creative examples of some of the places that you have found yourself using your Yahoo! Mail. One of my friends sent in a pic of herself checking via wireless out in front of some Taiwanese monuments.

Over the next week I’ll be posting some of the selections from those submissions. Some captured themselves within the image, others just captured a lovely view, but big thanks to everyone who made the effort. The team really enjoyed it.

Here we have Chrystal, seated in a place she “frequents often on campus” (the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo University Union), while checking her Yahoo! Mail.

Another of the submissions comes all the way from Manila, where Christian offered a sample of the view he enjoys while checking his email wirelessly on his balcony.

Stay tuned to the blog over the next week. Rounds 2 and 3 will be on the way.

Ryan!
REg. the Search utility in yahoo email:- I have been using yahoo since 1996!!!, so, this is not my first account. I have used search billion times to look for info in my old emails/attachments/files. Since july 2008, I have had this problem where whatever criteria I use, the search does not come up with emails earlier than prev. month – and sometimes, there are month wise folders (earlier, the folders were senders’ IDs) !! if you click one folder you lose the others-unless you use back button to bring it back!!! this has been reported and yahoo customer care said they are working on it but help yet. For eg., I type sender’s name as the keyword for search as mody and check Inbox and even check all messages. All it comes up with is July mails!!! I hv emails dated as far back as 2003! which I can manually go and find!! so, can you pls do something????

Hi Malathy, try contacting Yahoo support. I had the same problem and they fixed it within two days.

Hi there,
I was just wondering, if/when Yahoo! was planning to introduce IMAP (for free) for it’s customers. The iPhone already uses IMAP technology automatically when you setup your Yahoo! account. And apparently so does Zimbra.

Mainly because in this day and age, most people check and receive their emails across multiple platforms.

Thanks,
Sid.

really sucks not having imap.

more so knowing that yahoo email is running zimbra and so we know imap is running just not for the end users.

Sucks to know this is being deliberately turned off.

It is like the days of 10 meg email account limits before gmail.

Now gmail even offers free imap with their database mail system, but yahoo does not offer IMAP and they run an IMAP based mail system.

very frustrating.

Unable to access my yahoomail account. I am in Bangalore. What is the problem? Am I the only one?

I’ve complained twice about my outbound e-mails not going to the recipients at all, or only now & then for the past couple of weeks. The are NOT coming back undeliverable, & my regular contacts have different ISPs, so it’s not them. I’m told by Yahoo that they are letting their engineers work on it, but wondered if I’m the only one losing e-mails in cyberspace. I cleared out my entire cache, yet it isn’t working, so it must be a Yahoo issue.

Also, this seems that this problem coincidentally started when the new stationery feature was added. None of my contacts see the background that I have used, so it must not be working right either.

Am I alone on either of these issues?

I am having same problem as Linda A. My outbound e-mails are not going to the receipients and are not coming back undeliverable. Some of my outbound e-mails are not delivered until 3 or 4 hours after I send them. I too have just received a reply from yahoo that their engineers are working on it.

You are not alone, Linda A

Since early morning yesterday I have not been able to sign in on any of the yahoo sites or even yahoo messenger. I have changed computers, emptied my temp is files, cookies every damn thing suggested on the web. When I click on the links (or type in) the page never loads. I can however open yahoo.com or other international yahoos. This is very frustrating … any help …. please

I’m making a family website on Ning that’s privacy protected. Several of my cousins live in Manila.

How can I contact Christian Antipolo to ask permission to use his panoramic photo of Manila on the family site? The picture was used on the August 14th, 2008 edition of your blog.

Thank you.

So sorry! I unmindfully used an e-dress that I closed. The one I’m signing in on now is the replacement.

I’m still interested in obtaining Christian Antipolo’s permission to use his photo of Manila on a family website.

Thank you for your time!
