Yahoo! By You. Exclusively for Yahoo! Mail users

As a Yahoo! Mail user you’re probably vaguely aware that Yahoo! does other stuff too. Lots of other stuff. Did you know that there are over half a billion people doing stuff on Yahoo! every month? I find that very difficult to get my head round…that’s even more people than you get at a Rolling Stones gig isn’t it?
So what on earth are they all doing? And, more importantly, why should I/you/we care?
We’re starting up a new monthly email newsletter which will answer those questions. We believe that the stuff people are doing on Yahoo! is potentially very interesting and that “yes!”, we should care, because we might just discover some wonderful new things for ourselves.
So, if you agreed to let Yahoo! send you email when you set up your account, you can now look forward to seeing some of the fantastic, creative ways people use Yahoo! every month. And don’t worry, we won’t be trawling Yahoo! for embarrassing pictures or hilarious spelling mistakes… we respect the privacy of all our users and will not show anything without permission from the person who created it.
What else?
Will I get Yahoo! By You?
If you want to check whether or not you agreed to let us send you emails, click here. You can set your preferences as you please but remember – we’ll only ever send you stuff that we think you’ll find genuinely useful and interesting.
How can I get involved?
We want individual users to star in every issue of Yahoo! By You. If you’ve got some interesting things to share, you can volunteer yourself. Click here to become a Yahoo! By You Star!
Tell us what you think…
It’s not called Yahoo! By You for nothing. We need to know exactly what you think about this newsletter. Please leave comments, suggestions, rants against this post. Look forward to hearing from you.
Happy emailing!
Andrew – Yahoo! Mail Team

I love Yahoo and make use of it’s services regularly and look the little ideas Yahoo has to keep ahead of its rivals and competitors.
Yahoo is free to many and as such perhaps do not have the right to complain, but suggestions to improve the overall image would be welcome I imagine. Even great nations regard “world opinion.”
There are times when severs go in for maintenance or go down for other reasons. I think it would be great if Yahoo had an official voice, a link perhaps on each world area home page that told us about current problems. If Yahoo was an internal company server and suddenly the employees couldn’t access mail or chat or messenger, it’s nice to know the tech team can say “hey Guys, this is the problem and we’re on it!”
Communication is key.
Regards to the team and the greater yahoo community.
Gary.

How did you manage to know the outcome of the “Most popular home & garden items bought over Easter”?
This was your content received from you on the Thursday before Easter.
“Most popular home & garden items bought over Easter
1. Painting & decorating items
2. Power tools
3. Flooring
4. Bathroom accessories
5. Garden & leisure items”

Hi,
I get a GREAT free mail service, so the least I can do is to let you know what I think about the Yahoo! by You.
I suspect it addressed the main, or average, age group/interests of email users, and as such it was probably well targeted.
I am 50 and it did not do much for me, save to say it was well designed and looked ‘user friendly’
Best,
Demetrius

Yahoo by you – absolute rubbish! and a waste of time. If they remain at this standard, they will go into trash unread.

Hi Andrew, are you a real person?? I have contacted the Yahoo team on numerous ocassions regarding violations which I do not agree with, only to receive no reply.. This is frustrating, as I put in a fair amount of hours on the site with no backup whatsoever. The news page thingy is a great idea, but I’m pretty peed off that when I try to contact you, I seem to be ignored. I’m happy that you are trying to improve the site, but very upset with your customer relations!! Eventually, I think I may give up the Answers site, as I feel that there are no avenues to go down when youi have any issues. Hoping you will get back to me, Angie Ba, an avid fan of the site!!!!

Worthless rubbish. Rather than waste time on stupid newsletters, you should open a debate on why Yahoo software has gone downhill so badly.

I don’t see that because lots of folks use Yahoo there is any need for a ‘club’. I go back to sites where I have an affinity with the others that use it – i.e. Mudcat for folk music. Loads of folks drive a Ford Focus or buy Persil but that’s their only connection!

I am really not that interested in what other people are looking at on the net. It gets more and more selfobsessed. Half the people leaving messages don’t write good English and the other half seem to be base d in the States (no offence but they use differnet words eg what the hell are peeps?)

I think Yahoo mail is an excellent method of informing all mail users of the latest thinking, new features and tips – keep them coming!
One point, when is the calendar gong to be upgraded to match the excellent mail client software? I switched from Hotmail to Yahoo as I was so impressed by the interface.

I really cannot understand why you have to change the way of entering in to your site it has put me off using it, having to sign in fully every time is very time comsuming and it has not stopped all the spam mail I get, so what is the purpose of all the changes???
