You won’t lose important emails again

I wanted to share one more new feature of the all-new mail with you. It’s something that you may have noticed already, but if not I thought I’d let you know that it’s there. First, a question (not applicable to you Apple users)… How many times have you been working on that all-important document, and all of a sudden – ZAP – your computer crashes and you lose all of your hard work?
Well with the all-new Yahoo! Mail, you never have to worry about that with your Yahoo! emails. As you type and the minutes tick away, the all-new Yahoo! mail is working in the background to help make sure that power failures and other niggly computer problems don’t make you lose that important email you’re writing. Of course I’m talking about the “auto-save” feature, which saves a copy of your email to the Drafts folder at regular intervals. You can tell your message has been saved into your Drafts folder as pictured here:

Of course you can always use the “Save Draft” button at the top of your message if you want to save it to your drafts folder more frequently.
So if you didn’t have time to finish your message or if you just needed to step away from the computer, not to worry, we’ll save your message to your Drafts folder and you can continue it at your leisure. And in the event when your computer should crash (I’m sure you Apple users are laughing at us Windows users) we’ve got you covered with the Auto-save feature.
Happy emailing!

March 13th, 2008 at 7:42 am
Yeah, I have noticed that already – great thing, can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost my novel-long emails… I won’t need to first type everything in text document and paste to email window anymore! Thanks yahoo ;)
March 14th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I like the autosave, but why does my e-mail sometimes remain in my draft folder after sending? Doesn’t happen all the time but i have to check my drafts folder to make sure in case i think i’ve not sent it later on. ;->
March 18th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Thanks a lot. I had this happen several times, before the new system was introduced. Well done!
March 19th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I noticed that the email print out does not show the file name of attachments. How do I incude the file names of the attachments in my print out.
Thanks

Why can’t we see the answers to other peoples comments ? It might answer other queries without the need for a response

“First, a question (not applicable to you Apple users)… How many times have you been working on that all-important document, and all of a sudden – ZAP – your computer crashes and you lose all of your hard work?”
Why do apple users insist on making comments like this? I’m an apple user, but my Macbook Pro regularly crashes, whereas the Vista desktop I have has yet to crash in 12 months of heavy use.
I know the evil empire is trying to take control of your company but is your job really so under threat you have to spread FUD?

Really cool. Thanks for this info, I hadn’t notices before. Would have been very helpful when I was using a PC but I use a lappy now and can always do something about my work when there’s been power failure.

March 28th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
How does one activate autosave on an emailing facility?
thanks dolores
March 29th, 2008 at 7:50 am
The new feature is great but sometimes it does not always work! I wonder why??
March 29th, 2008 at 9:46 am
its ok to have this feature but if you cant get them in the first place what good is it. Since having this address I have had two out of three E-mails returned to sender; dont tell me about settings as my other half gets hers from “orange” with no problems at all. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS. WILL LOOK AFTER LUNCH.
March 29th, 2008 at 11:03 am
i think this is really good because whenever you want to look back at a messages and it could change the way of using e-mail forever. thanks for creating this yahoo, im sure i’ll be excepting more things later on in the week!!
March 29th, 2008 at 11:20 am

Thanks for your effort you put in providing us with necessary information.
March 31st, 2008 at 10:14 am

March 31st, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I think this will save us up right from the less developed countries. How can I get around this please? Thanks for the info
March 31st, 2008 at 2:41 pm

March 31st, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Thanx that has answered one of my recent queries to you.
March 31st, 2008 at 5:45 pm
i have losts long emails several times on th old system and i had to start all over and over again. it was so miserable.
March 31st, 2008 at 6:18 pm
agree with godfrey on spell check, but otherwise it’s a fantastic feature as i type up assignments directly as an email and have lost them b4. 1000 + words is a lot to lose!
March 31st, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Great. If not Yahoo, where else?. More fun to your stable. Yahoo for ever.
April 1st, 2008 at 8:47 am

April 1st, 2008 at 11:32 am
nice feature thanks a lot for that and i think in furure yahoo will provide to us good features like this…………
April 1st, 2008 at 1:45 pm
I’ve seen the autosave and thankful that its there, but how can we used autosave when we’re using the dicreet yahoo instant chat? We physically have to copy and save as a draft if we want to keep a record of our conversations…….
April 1st, 2008 at 5:14 pm
Thanks, also noticed this feature and also wondered why, until I was actually thankful, thought I lost my email and could continue with the letter when I found it my draft folder. THANKS
April 1st, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Thanks very much I have noticed it does this..saving into drafts.
But I do have a problem of late with my yahoo mail. It tends to freeze all the time. I have to go out and back into yahoo and try again and again to send 1 email at a time. Somehow it seems to be loading and loading ….but never seems to load…it takes forever.
Then in my drafts sometimes as someone else commented that emails sent it tends to put repeated messages in 2the drafts so something is radically wrong.
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:46 am
Thanks for making life pleasurable for us. It’s fun to be associated with yahoo. Keep on setting the pace !
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:07 pm
Life bcoms beautiful when made easier.
Thanks for this wonderful initiative. it does not only save the stress of retyping a mail but the cost that comes with that process.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:05 am
It is a great system. Letter goes into my draft folder instead of loosing it, makes my life easy. Thank you for this useful addition.
I wish Ya hoo a brilliant future.
April 3rd, 2008 at 12:47 pm
This is excellent but sometimes it does not work.
April 3rd, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Brill….!! I was half way through writing an email and my pc crashed restarted it and hey presto there it was saved in drafts…..
April 4th, 2008 at 8:15 am
This helps, especially when the power goes off(which happens in Bangalore-India)and we do not have a power back up.
April 4th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Will it also work with power cuts???? if yes then i thank you very much…
April 4th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
Now I won’t lose any important emails. Thanks yahoo!
April 4th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Thanks yahoo, that autosave thing really hits the spot!! :0)))
April 5th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
This is great. But in addition one can sometimes erase/delete email and then want to recover them. I think you should design a kind of recycle bin to keep temporarily the deleted mails. that would be wonderful. Secondly, thanks for the automatic save of addresses. but give the option of saving the group mails and also easy way on how to edit the group mails etc etc.
otherwise BRAVE I am happy to be in yahoo family….
April 5th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Thankyou thankyou thankyou……yahoo you are my life-saver, ohh how many times i had lost my long emails and i had to start all over again. How frustrating it was, and then yahoo came along with ‘draft autosave’ and it really made my life that much more worth living. Thankyou yahoo for being there for me and i hope you always will be. Thankyou once again.
April 6th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
i had this this problem previously, thanks for anticipating and finding solution for that. yahoo is my best friend.
April 7th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
well, Yahoo! you never seize to ammuse me. you make internet surfing the best thing to do in a day. the auto save feature is a life saver coz i’ve lost data countless times whilst sending mails due mostly to powerfailer. thanks guys. i love Yahoo!
April 7th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
That is a great innovation.Thank U yahoo 4 making life easier. It’s yahoo all the way.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Thanks for letting me know i am sick to death of cutting and pasting documents into my email box when sending long e-mails.
April 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
The autosave feature is great, thanks. The number of times that I get interrupted whilst emailing is unbelievable, so it is such a handy tool.
Just a shame about the large adverts which have appeared on the screen overnight.
I know that Yahoo depends on the advertising revenue, but can’t you add the “close ad” facility to the main page?
It is very distracting.
April 8th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
It’s great to know that I wont have to worry that I’ll lose any of my important mails again. Thanks a heap for the great service by yahoo.
April 8th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
It is a great invention I have waited so long to embrace.I believe it would not deceive us in to loosing important information as we will greatly rely on it for information retrieval. It is also true that yahoo is separating the boys from the men in internet service delivery.I just hope cost of access to your services in developing countries would be further reduced to enable the poor enjoy part of the great time and information we veteran users continue to enjoy at yahoo.Well done and more grease to your elbows.
April 8th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Hurray! so now no need to worry any more about lossing those important words one has put together to make up a mail.
Thanks to YAHOO MORE GREASE TO YOUR ELBOWS MAN!
April 9th, 2008 at 6:02 am
Thanks for your excellent service. It keeps improving everyday!
April 9th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
I think this is a really good system because now I don’t loose my emails when I am in the middle of writing them! ;)
I do prefer the old classic Yahoo though because it is easier to navigate around…..
April 10th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Great news, until a few days ago I didn’t realise I had this.It was at the end of a long draft when my computer crashed.I thought ‘Oh dear’ or something like that, however Auto Save’ saved the day.
Thanks Yahoo
April 10th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Ha Ha Ha , auto save e-mails, use save the draft button, don’t make me laugh. Why have I’ve lost at least six e-mails in the last few days if the autosave feature is so good.
Glad I’m only using yahoo as temporary measure and not permanently.
Long live AOL

Go on with you godd works. Your are the best.
April 11th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I can’t seem to add on any attachments once the auto save is operational!! Why is that? It seems to ‘freeze’!! eh!!
April 12th, 2008 at 10:27 am

April 12th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
it is a good idea, people from all over would love this as it make live easter. it is great for me as i am a mother and some time i have to stop an attend to my children, therefore i would loose my work, or i have to try to remember what i was doing. But with this memory saver it will never be the same. THANK YOU ALOT.
April 12th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Brilliant! I’m always writing emails that rival War and Peace in length so it’s comforting to know I can’t lose them in the ether anymore. Great idea!
April 13th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
Great but does it work on clasik?and can you ajust the time when it saves?
overall its great!!
April 13th, 2008 at 4:15 pm

April 15th, 2008 at 9:48 am
Great idea as I have lost in the past.
April 15th, 2008 at 11:49 am
I had thought yesterday that i had lost a big piece that i had spent a long time setting up.My silly fault that i had’nt switched on the plug to keep battery charged up.It suddenly went off screen when i had couple of sentences to finish. When i realised my mistake, thought i would have to start again as i could’nt find it.Went on to do other work, when “ping” it came back up. I was so relieved to find it, and was able to finish it and sent it off.Thankyou, yahoo, very much for this new system.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
the autosave is cool but a thing to sort mails out would be cooler
April 15th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
[...] last month I wrote about the auto-save feature of the all-new Yahoo! Mail. I think you’ll agree that is a great feature. Some emails went around [...]
April 15th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I agree with Rob. I have lost mails when replying. Cn that be rectified? I am a new user too!!
April 16th, 2008 at 11:22 pm

April 17th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Nice improvement, keep the good work up.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:12 am
It has made us beat chest before Apple users. Go on.
April 17th, 2008 at 10:50 am
i think this tool is a great idea as i write novel long emails so gle your not alone!!
i like to write my own stories and i like to send them to different people and get there feedback, but it is such a BORE when they disapear from your screen and you have to dilly dally just to get it back again, and when you do there isnt ANY words left on the page!!
so i think whoever invented this tool is such a saint because i thank you gratefully…
April 17th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I really want to say this new system is a very good idea. Please continue to make this network fund and user friendly.
April 17th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Welldone,Yahooteam. Thanks very much.
I would like it to be able to send more than one attachments per e-mail with the all new Yahoo.
In classic mail I can.
Tanks again for the good work.keep it up.
A dutch user living in Greece.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Great but doesn’t seem to work when replying or forwarding an email Thank you .kojo
August 19th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Yeah, too bad in their transition, I lost 8 years of emails! No way to restore them, since I was using the free service, so I am screwed….
NO way to use outlook or thunderbird to save them, yahoo won’t let you, but GMail does….
With the introduction of Thunderbird use on Gmail, I think that the world is going to try to start forwarding all their emails to their new GMail addresses, I know that I because I need to not lose my stuff again!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
can not seem 2 find any e-mails sent 2 me .am i doing something wrong ?
