Help with downloading of attachments

We’ve been listening to your feedback over these past months since the all-new mail came out of beta. One of the features that you asked for was a way to download multiple attachments at once. Well, we heard you loud and clear.

So, over the next few days we will be rolling this feature out. Here is a screenshot of how it will look in your message. So when you receive a message that contains more than one attachment, you’ll see this:

Download all Attachments
All you have to do is click “Download All” to get all at once!

(Note: Occasionally, you may not see the Download All link above a message with multiple attachments. Sometimes the manner in which an individual file is named prevents it from being grouped together with other files. In these cases, you’ll need to download attachments the old way, one by one.)

As with many of our enhancements to mail, not everyone gets the new feature at once. So if you don’t see the “Download All” link, be patient, everyone will have this feature soon.

** Please note… The download all feature will download all the files into one compressed (.zip) file which then needs to be unzipped in order to view all the files. Windows XP and Vista both deal with .zip files as part of the operating system. If you are having trouble with the “download all” feature, you may need to install Winzip or another file compression software.

Happy emailing!

So I asked around the team, and what I’ve found a large percentage of users do… They open an Internet browser, and then search for Yahoo Mail, and then click the Yahoo Mail search result. I’m going to assume that it’s mostly Internet explorer for the browser and mostly some other search engine I’m not going to name ;). But then that’s probably what my mum would do too, whereas I would never think to do that. But since my mum doesn’t know what a URL is or what http:// stands for, it makes more sense to me now. I’ve been immersed in this stuff for so long now, what seems second nature to me is completely foreign to someone like my mum.

I feel that if yahoo had a separate division / group that will cater to business e mail ids e.g yahoobiz then it can be very useful for many SMEs. With yahoo constantly innovating & providing built in antivirus solutions etc it could add real value to sme operations. If this is acceptable, the same idea can be expanded to provide customised web page etc etc

I *LOVE* Yahoo Mail’s Web interface and the fact that it works with IE (Windows), Firefox and now even Safari (oh yes, it already did, but now the compatibility warning’s gone…). I would just like to see POP/IMAP access becoming available for free, as I cannot opt in for Yahoo Mail Plus because it’s not offered in my country. I use Yahoo Mail UK because of legislation issues in the US which I oppose and which are not there in the UK, but if it were available I’d like to use an English language version of Yahoo Mail Netherlands. Yahoo Mail doesn’t even have a regionalised mail version for my country. Therefore, I’m also unable to use Yahoo Mail Plus. I would have done that if I could, because I’ve been using Yahoo for over 17 years now (first US, now UK). And with the all new interface for Mail, I don’t think I’ll quit easily. POP/IMAP access would be finishing it all nicely; especially since some connections may be slowing things down… Kwwp up the good work.

Please give the facility for two people working from the same PC to log on at the same time. My husband and I need to constantly log each other out in order to access our emails.

Catherine

Hi Caterine,
As a matter of fact, you can work from the same PC at the same time. However, you’ll need to use different Web browsers to do that. For example, you can be logged on using Internet Explorer, and your husband can be logged on using the Firefox web browser. Give that a try.
Thanks,

Talking of downloads, since my cat trashed my laptop which had windows xp, and hence having to get another computer which is now vista, email attachments have become laborious to say the least. I try to open them, but I have to save them into works folder before I can read them…is there anyway I can change this so I can just read them from my mail??

Many thanks:-)

Hi Parfait,
I don’t know why you would have problems sending pictures. Remember that you have a 10 MegaByte limit with attachments. So, maybe your pictures are really big and you’re reaching the maximum attacment size.

Hi Yahoo,

I love the Beta version but I find it really difficult to update my contacts and get them to stay how I put them! In the old version I had created various groups which obviously transferred to the new version but in order to put my new contacts into their correct groups I have to revert back to the old classic as it’s easier to add and edit contacts and stays how I put it! There is no longer options to put your new contacts into various groups easily. Help!! They just won’t stay! When I get to the save page a popup comes up to ask me if I want to save (again!) and I find this is just a continuous loop until I eventually have to cancel the whole thing and go to the classic to sort it out!

There should be a Yahoo business e-mail package. Where you have your own master login and can create passwords and issue to your employees, as well as disable there password entry, autoresponder into web back-end would be neat as well.

I would definitly pay for this service especially if it had unlimited storage as well as a back-up vault mechanism and ssl as standard.

Also when is Yahoo going to buy sKype, or merge, a nice skype interface would do the trick too. Peace out…..

I have the same problem reported by 15, 22, 113 and 124. Sometimes I have a pdf file, that when I click download -> open, the download window appears and keeps transferring information but never finishes. I have another email provider and it opens just fine with it. Also, if I right click and select “save file as” it downloads a file named “Showletter”. Which is just a small HTML file. Any ideas?

The problem with opening attachments as mentioned by 15, 22, 113, 124 and 127 could be related to IE. I was getting the same issues until I used Firefox as the browser and it opens the attachments with no problems.

I’m afraid I’m not a fan.

The speed is dire and I cannot open an attachment at all, never mind several at once.

Seriously thinking of ditching it altogether.

The next tool needed is one to allow me to retain an email but delete attachments. The only current option seems to be deleting the whole email?

How about being able to download just one email.

I have been unable to view any attachments for months using BT Yahoo ! and there appear to be few ideas as to what is causing it.

Before adding functionality, would it not be a good idea to consolidate by fixing these obvious issues first. I have seen this problem on so many sites. Problems, but no solutions.

I don’t have time to read all of this so I’ll just ask.
Is there a way to download ALL the atachements from ALL the e-mails in one folder? I have a lot of e-mails with funny stuff such as pictures, movies, pps… I do not have the time to acces all the e-mails, start the download, wait for the download and then go to another e-mail. I just want to leave the PC on and let it download for a few days.
So.. how about it… Can I do that?

—-
Hi Bobby,
The only way to do that would be to POP your mail from Yahoo using a mail client like Outlook or Thunderbird. UK mail users (@yahoo.co.uk) can do it for free. If you are a US mail user (@yahoo.com) you will have to sign up for Mail Plus.
Hope that helps.
