Switching back from Calendar Beta

While we have a lot of confidence in the overall experience being offered by the All-New Calendar beta, the fact of the matter is that it is a beta and some people may want to switch back.  We had always intended to include that option (hence the Help pages that describe its presence on the Calendar Options page) but it had to be turned off at the last minute.

So for all of you users who have switched to the beta, and think you might prefer to switch back, or if you wanted to try the beta, but were afraid you couldn’t change your mind…I have some good and bad news for you.

The good news is that users can now find that Switch Back option, right where the Help pages say it should be.  But before you rush over and start playing with it you should also know the bad news (which is very clearly called out before completing your request).

Anything that you’ve added or changed while in the Beta will not follow you back.  Your calendar will be just as it was before you switched to the beta.  The same thing goes for any Notes.  It’s like it never happened.

Just be sure you are aware we flash a pretty aggressive looking warning message.  Don’t be alarmed.  We just want to make sure you are aware that the changes don’t follow you back.

I don’t know if this is related to the new Calendar but at the bottom of my Yahoo mail, all the appointments are off by 1 day and 3 hours…. It also shows weather in Boston????? When I put my mouse on the event, it show the correct date and time but not listed at the bottom of the new Yahoo mail screen… I use that feature all the time to remind me of stuff…

Just wondering???

Doug,

If you look in your Yahoo! Calendar are the times off too?

Ryan, I’m having the same problem. Also, on the calendar suggestion board, there are a lot of entries about people having the same problem.

For anyone who doesn’t remember from the announcement post, Herbert is the Product Manager in charge of the new Calendar (and also the host of the screencast).

This is a known issue which is supposedly being worked on.
And to answer Ryan’s question, the times are correct in the calendar, they are only off in the calendar strip on the mail page.

Oh and reverting back to the non-beta calendar fixes this problem.

Ryan maybe you could direct me to where I can get help with the new email that I paid $20.00 for and now it is time to pay again ….but I need help with the part where the chat is with the email. It says I am off line but the truth is it will not get back on line to chat. I had downloaded the Adobe Flash as it said to and worked for quite a while then it all quit. What to do? If you have any Idea where I can get help send me the link to email someone. Thanks

Ryan,
Can you check as to why there isn’t any update for more than a year on one of my tabs ‘hybrid cars & vehicles’?
Thanks

Is it possible to share to share my beta calendar with another yahoo user who is in a country that is not supported in the beta (eg, canada)? I tried sharing it (so they could view and edit appts) and when they click on the link all they see is a blank screen.

Is this a real issue, or is something else going on?

I find it silly to remove this feature!

I find it essential to daily!

Yahoo mail had scored a point on google and co with this feature: in one place you find all your information available with the possibility of the archive as you see fit. Clearly one place to manage entering your info and transmit real-time!

With this deletion, Yahoo Mail becomes basic! I recommend Google to take the idea and include their Gmail RSS reader.

Best regards

Can anyone let me know when the Beta version will be open to more users? When I tried switching I get an error message that says the calendar is not yet available in my language (English, United States) and I’ve double checked all of my language settings and they are all English-US so I don’t understand…is the Beta still closed?

I can’t get my blackberry to sync up with the beta. Is this going to be fixed? I have put alot of information on my calender and if I switch back then I will loose it all.

I don’t get it. Do I have to Pay $$ for a Calender when they are free all over the other mail services and browsers.

Must have missed something, I’m sure. Suffering Flu.
