For the next edition of our Yahoo! Mail Workshop series, we are going to be focusing on understanding the basics of Yahoo! Mail. Join us on Wednesday, October 8th, from 3-4PM PT, for the live, moderated chat with members of the Yahoo! Mail team. Whether you are using Classic, or the All-New Yahoo! Mail, we want your questions. It could be something as simple as setting your chat status in the New Mail. Or maybe where to go to update your signature. You ask and we will do our best to answer.
You will be able to submit questions in advance by visiting our Workshop page, as well as live during the event. So get those questions in and be sure to be there!

Whenever you try to expand your email page out to the right, you get a pop up message that tells you about Yahoo! Mail Plus. That in itself is OK, but when you go to clear the box and check off “Do not show this to me again” it shows up again anyway. Can’t this be stopped???

I really wish someone could tell me how to enable my chat feature again. It has worked fine for a long time. Now it just says loading chat and will not show available, busy, etc. status of any contacts. Can’t figure out what has happened. HELP……

I started having the same problem with “chat”. I have Windows Vista–and was told that Yahoo is incompatible with some of the Vista software–although it has worked for 11 months! I have Verizon Yahoo–and there are alot of complaints–as of 10-17-08. It is keeping me “off line” even though I clicked on “available”. It sez I have to have adobe Flash installed(I do) but it is not recognizing this.(as of 10,17,08.

Provide ability to change the Subject Line of received messages (I used to add my own personal “tags” in subject lines when I used to use Outlook).
When will Yahoo Sync work with Vista?…when the next Windows O/S comes out?
Allow Folders to have Sub-Folders.
Be able to search by fields (i.e. Search attachments named attach.doc, Search messages sent by joe@ymail.com, Search messages received between 1/1/2008 and 2/1/2008)
Make an email message as a Calendar Item, Task or Notepad Item (The “SuperTags” or whatever you call them, aren’t really ready for prime time.)
Ability to see everyone in the header, without using the pop-up “Full Header”.
Ability to add senders (and other recipients) to Contacts.
Add Y! Messenger features to webchat (block, notify me when log on/off, etc.).
Correct the “Button/Frame” issue: If you click on the “Forward” or “Reply” buttons, you have to remind yourself to click in the body of the new message, otherwise any of the keystroke commands will activate while you type your message. (I.e. If I type “What’s Up?” the “T” will activate the Text Message window, and I’ll have “Wha’ U?”)
Add Voice/Video to webchat.
Add the ability to delete custom webchat status messages.
I thought Y! Mail Plus was not supposed to have the sidebar ads. What’s up with that?
Get all services to work (Notepad, Calendar, Tasks, etc.)
Make Y! Go sync all services, not just email and contacts (1.0 did. What happened?)
October 4th, 2008 at 5:51 am
I hate what you have done. First you lost all my contacts; then you charged $19.95 and lost all my folders; now I am unable to use my sync application so none of my computers can speak to each other. I hate Yahoo. Who gave you permission to touch my mail and to dig into my files. Most of my current programs do not work because “they cannot locate my mail server.” You have been a disaster to my business and education records. And it is impossible to locate a real person at Yahoo who is able to talk. I do not want to blog with the world or re-spend the hours I have spent reading your selected help questions. I want to contact a person. I have had two emails confirming that you have received my case and will get back to me in 24 hours. Well it is well past that time and no response!

Either there are no new news stories in sports or something is wrong with the mail news. When I log in this is the news I keep getting …same old news. Any ideas??
IOC: No proof Chinese gymnasts underage (AP)
China was asked to provide additional documents proving that five of the six members of its gold medal women’s gymnastics team were old enough to compete in the Beijing Olympics, in hopes of ending persistent questions about the girls’ ages. The International Olympic Committee said Friday there is still no proof anyone cheated, but it asked gymnastics officials to investigate “what have been a…

i hear some people squawking about nothing and some with legitimate suggestions/requests. i have used Yahoo! mail for about 10 years now and have been very happy with it so far. i have the Plus so i pay the extra $20 and other than the inordinate amount of SPAM, that is put into that folder, it works quite well. i WOULD like to have a priority system though, high, low, normal for new messages. and the options, why do we have to go external, to the OLD mail to get this fixed?

When I checked my E-mail today, someone has used my E-mail address and my name to post a message. I have nothing to do with this message. This post was deliberately sent in my name using my E-mail address. Hw to trace the culprit? Please take urgent steps to trace the culprit and take necessary action before he does great harm to me.

I am so glad that i discover the ymail.com because on my new email account i can do chatting my friends. You don’t need to down load like messenger(I’ll never try messenger). But i think ymail.com is more easy to do chat directly in your inbox.

Hey there,
I could really, really use some help with a problem I have with Yahoo Plus Email. This paid for email service MUST BE corrected so that people who have it CAN read their email when it is selected in the usual manner.
It is completely absurd that the reply button must be utilized in order for people to be able to read their email. This is not security, this is absurdity.
Let us suppose that this is a setting placed to keep hackers common to chats from accessing client email programs?
Do we really need to be chatting from our email boxes?
Did you know that any time you chat and have email open from any program, you are potentially exposing your email to a hacker?
This is a KNOWN FACT
Disclaimer: Many security software packages, and other software programs on the market today have the capabilities to prevent this type of attack. Do you know if yours does? Personally, I am not selling anything, just thought I would ask that good question along with this “Disclaimer”.
Please Yahoo? This is such a disservice, couldn’t this “bug” because it bugs me and I’m sure it bugs others too, because they’re switching back to your dinosaur email to avoid it; be fixed? Really now, to chat in email? or Not to chat in email. What most really wanted was the Calendar anyway.
A resolution to the real problem with the email is of paramount importance to the majority of your greatest fans and users.
Sincerely,
J

I want to read my email when I select it.
I never chat from inside my email in box anyway
The calendar feature is a superior feature, but really, it’s the email, in orderly, working fashion that I have always been after.
In the past two months I have had such ridiculous problems setting a security tag, so much so that I could not even access my email for hours, even days at a time. Once in to the email in box, could not read the new email I had received because the Y email program became flighty when I pushed the reply button to read it and the system locked. Drove me nuts, I ended up just signing out. Was ridiculous, had to reboot a couple of times just to unlock system. Yes, Cookies cleared, yes temp files cleared, and yes before locks. Of course I used the F8 feature, I had to. Yes, a W prob., but, W shut down due to Y M prob., yes indeed.
Not good, so please, Yahoo, make my email readable in Yahoo Email Plus, will ya? Come on, please?
Thank you,
Judi

Need immediate help guys - a matter of preference!
How do I switch from - Yahoo Mail (Classic) - back to
new (previous) mail format?
I was getting - Invalid XML errors - (HTTP status:200)
(anybody seen these?)
whenever I entered my email - got frustrated with these
(Invalid XML) errors msgs coming up - so I swithed to (Classic)!
The Invalid XML errors stopped - however - yes, I would prefer the
(new / standard) format!
Is there a (mail or internet) option that can switch you back to your
new (standard) format - or I’m stuck with Classic?
Please respond!
Thanks
UNIC

Sorry if I’m off the subject. First time on the blog and wasn’t sure where to post this.
When I used outlook a few years ago, if I had an important message that I wanted to make sure someone got, I could select receipt confirmation-something like that, and it would send me notification when the person opened the message I had sent. This isn’t available in yahoo apparently and I’m wondering if anyone else has this issue?
It was a simple”your message has been viewed”or something like that. Is this just not something thats going to ever happen in yahoo? should i just go back to outlook? I know it doesn’t guarantee they actually read the email, but at least I knew and could show it had been at least opened.
