There is nothing more annoying than somebody else telling you how important they think their email is. I set priority flags on my incoming emails myself. Generally the emails that come in with the highest priority are the least important ;) Read receipts are also completely pointless. I have always set my email clients to ignore these. If it was a guaranteed system and it worked fine, but it doesn't. With the amount of junk email and filtering systems in place, you can't guarantee that an email will get to its destination. If your email is that important and you haven't heard back, then email them again. If they still don't get back to you, chase them up with a phone call.
