In our ongoing efforts to help users connect, I thought it would be fun to let all the Windows and Mac users out there know that you now have something in common. You can both use the All-New Yahoo! Mail in the Safari browser.
That’s right, the All-New Mail is now fully compatible with the latest Mac and Windows versions of the Safari browser. It’s actually been rolling out over the last few weeks, so many of you have probably already noticed.
Our guys have worked very closely with folks from Apple to ensure that Safari users on both sides of the OS war can enjoy a great experience in Safari. (Unfortunately for me this work hasn’t netted me any Apple swag, but oh well. I guess it’s probably more important to actually work on compatibility anyway.)
This also means that if you are someone who has straddled that fence because your work machine and home machine ran different systems (as I did for far too long), you have another browser option that will provide a consistent experience on both machines.
There it is…one more thing for Mac and PC users to agree on. A great experience with YMail in Safari.

I just got a Macbook and I can not use the Mail feature with my yahoo address.. I looked it up on the Apple website and it says the following: “Mail works with the most popular email providers, like Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL Mail, automatically configuring those cryptic server settings for you.”

How do you get ymail into the safari browser on an imac? Is y mail POP or IMAP ?

I don’t think that is good cause what if someone goes on your email and just like tells people that you hate them and then you lose all your friends an then you wonder who did that and then you get scared that has happened to me and let me tell you it will scare you half to death!!!!!

Hi. I’m having trouble sending attachments to my mother and Aunt and Father. I have yahoo plus they don’t, Internet Explorer 7.0. wireless from Cablelynx modem. Mom said you need a microscope to see the picture. She double clicks on picture nothing. She is unable to click open the attachment link. Plus it takes ages for a photo to attach on my end of the process. Any suggestions? Thank you.
where did my avatar go ? use to be shown on home pg and email, not there any more, and cant find where to even add it back ?

That’s actually something that is managed by the folks running the Toolbar, but I’ll pass this along to our Mail folks and see if we can’t exert some “encouragement”.

Any chance of a Yahoo! Toolbar for Safari? Having automatic e’mail notification from the Yahoo! Toolbar is a key reason why I use Yahoo! Mail. I briefly looked into Safari a few months ago, but dropped the idea when I found there was no support for Yahoo! Toolbar.
Yahoo uses IMAP for the iPhone, all we need is IMAP for Mail clients, such as the “Mail” application under Apple’s OS X.
POP is something that is almost useless, since a LOT of people check emails across multiple platforms.
I’ve been a Safari fan for a while now and it’s nice to see Yahoo! Mail catch up. Next, Yahoo! MUST enable POP access for free accounts. Hey, I understand you have to make a profit, but that “other” search engine has offered free POP access for years. Combined with calendar sync for Outlook, document creation, editing and storage, the “other” guy is eating you for lunch. I know Yahoo! Mail Plus is only $20 a year, but I just canceled my premium service because I have a free alternative that actually works well and filters spam far more efficiently that Yahoo! Mail Plus. Sorry guys, too little too late.

No need to set up additional YMail accounts. It just means that if Windows users who download and install the Safari browser can use it to access their YMail accounts. Mac users get Safari automatically.

I am the least computer savvy person on the planet so I THINK this is a good idea. But what is it? Do you have to set up an acct in Ymail? I have both a Mac and a Windows PC. Should I set up a Ymail account on both of them?

I think the new system is dreadful. I cannot open attachments whatever I try to do. Why do people have to mess with things that are running perfectly well.

Hello, off topic, BUT… I opened a ymail account and received a cute little notice inviting me to TRANSFER contacts, calendar, and emails over to my new ymail account, by using TrueSwitch.
Surprise — when I went through the link and did the Trueswitch routine, a number of email domains were listed to transfer FROM, including SBCGLOBAL.NET, but not PACBELL.NET.
There is NO WAY to reach Yahoo by phone — or online — so whadda I do now. HELP !!! I need to pull my stuff into ymail from pacbell.net, and I am stranded because there is no way to override and specifiy pacbell.net because the pull-down list does NOT include it (pacbell.net is now is a part of ATT Yahoo like so many of the others…). Can you fix please?????? Talking strictly webmail here, all my email is all on the server… thanks in advance. – Rich

How do I turn off the scanning of attachments?
It drives me nuts as it >>only<< seems to happen when I am on deadline trying to submit a whooping 900 word document.

That’s nice. Supporting IMAP (and POP) for free accounts like that other search engine’s free email service would make this a moot point, of course…

I was wondering and praying. How hard would it be for yahoo to add picture ID to Email like cellphone. I really need it. I have so many people with the same 1st name and I can’t remember who’s last name is who’s.

I have to agree with Bruce–the search mechanism on the new Yahoo Mail utterly fails to work properly. I have the same experience of not being able to find items that I KNOW are there, and I can find them when I scroll down far enough. It used to work great–does anyone know what’s happened, or if there’s a fix in progress?

That’s great, but I still can’t access my business mail from the new Yahoo mail like I used to be able to in the old Yahoo mail. Any plans on working THAT out?

With the new mail my mail search no longer works. It no longer finds stuff that I KNOW is there. NOW I have to do it the hard way by opening years of mail to find what I am looking for. I used to be able to search by word, or name, or email address and woooosh what I am looking for comes up . now all I get is

* containing the search term: Blah Blah
You might want to:
* Broaden your search by using fewer search terms
* Check your spelling
* Try using different words that mean the same thing
I miss the old mail.
As a Mac and PC user, this is great news!
Next up – iCal to Yahoo Calendar sync? Puh-leeze?

Off topic but… Thanks for brining back the map in the calendar ticker when you hover over an appointment. It’s a great feature. It makes Yahoo! Mail one step closer to having all the info. you need within a click.
