Coming Soon: An Exciting New Feature for Yahoo! Mail

It was clear that many of you really liked some of the recent additions to All-New Mail, but we don’t want you to think the praise has convinced us that there isn’t still some work to be done. We understand that we need to deliver enhancements that ultimately make Yahoo! Mail the only email option you can even imagine wanting to use.

vpmatt2.pngIt is with that laser focused goal in mind that I’m delighted to announce the Yahoo! Mail team’s latest attempt to obliterate the competition. In the coming weeks we hope to begin rolling out a pre-pre-Alpha version of Yahoo! Mail (for both Classic and New Mail) that supports telepathy.

You may have already heard some of the buzz around technologically enabled telepathy (also known as “technopathy“) and we feel that we are perfectly positioned to really deliver on that vision.

To help lead these efforts we recently brought in Matt Parkman (formerly of the LAPD and NYPD) to be our new VP of Totally Wireless Mail. Fortunately for us his schedule had been really light when we first approached him with the opportunity. We also understand that many of you are already worried about the various spam problems this might create. While I can’t give too many specifics at this point, we have an offer out to someone to be our Director of Cranial Spam Reduction.

Telepathic email should come in handy on Mars in the new Virgle community: http://www.google.com/virgle/index.html

Should certainly “one up” your competition!

Whatever happened to the update for the classic version? I still do not see the updated version for us classic users.

So, all you need is a listing on Wikipedia and a spot on a popular network television show to work for Yahoo Mail? I need to get busy on my resume and head shots…

Better filtering tool would go a long way towards getting rid of spam. Need to able to make a filter that says keep mail from anyone in contact list in the inbox and move all other mail to another folder. Currently that is not possible. Currently have to do a filter for each name and yahoo restricts to 50 filters max. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry Ryan, this is not related to this post, but I’m wondering several things.
1) When will the Calendar and Notes be updated to fit directly within the New Yahoo Mail?
2) Is Yahoo planning to begin wireless sync for Calendar to BlackBerry soon?
Thanks!

I still don’t get it? Yahoo Mail tries to say it is the only mail you will require but it is completely full of ads. My only guess on this is that you need to pay for an ad-free version which makes no sense considering anyone who has an internet account would have free email account/s provided to them so why pay?

Thank god! It’s no fun communicating telepathically with myself all the time. It’ll be nice to be able to communicate with others using a technology that I’ve perfected over time. THANKS!

While I have a sense of humor, I’d rather see your energy going into finding out why we are getting so much more spam in our inbox than ever before, while my cc’s to our own yahoo addie go to the bulk folder! Yesterday was april 1.

Hmmm…maybe one day people who run web services will think of an April Fool’s Day joke that DOESN’T involve some really “out there” technological advancement that seems too good to be believed. Maybe one day we won’t log into Google, Yahoo, MSN, or whatever and read on April 1st about email to the past or future, email via telepathy, or how we can now email our dead friends and loved ones. This was funny a few years ago, but all I can say now is *YAWN* Wake me up when the geeks of the world come up with a new joke.

This article just wasted a few minutes of my day… just like Yahoo Mail does every day with it’s poor SPAM control. How about we spend some more time working on preventing SPAM, -undoubtedly the number one complaint of email users in the world, and less time with stupid fake announcements and “improvements” that no one asked for.

Need to fix spam control filters - I get 20 to 30 emails daily from that *&^% Canada Pharmacy sites and no matter how many I delete as spam seems that 2 more replace them

I like my classic email, except for the fact that whenever I click to reply to all on an email, the dang email sends the repsonse to my self also…the software SHOULD automatically remove my own name when I reply to all.

I also do not like that I cannot right-click to copy something…I have to click on the icon to copy something, yet I AM able to right click to paste something. Grrrrrrrrrrr

What would be really useful in Yahoo Mail (which Gmail already does) would be if it were to store all the sent messages sent through smtp rather than just the ones sent via the web interface.

Hey,
Seems interesting. I recently announced something almost as challenging as this one.
I call it SneezeNergy (an attempt to grab the energy that goes waste when we sneeze).

See my blog for more info on it.
