Some All-New features in the All-New Yahoo! Mail

As I mentioned on this blog a few weeks back, the All-New Yahoo! Mail now works on the latest versions of Safari 3 for Mac. In that post I mentioned that there were a few other enhancements that were not limited to Mac users. Well now that just about everyone using the All-New Mail should be on the latest release, I figured I might as well offer up the details.

  • downloadall.pngDownload All Attachments – you may have seen this new option within one of your recent messages, but as it suggests you can now download all attachments with a single click.
  • Safari 3 support for Mac - as we already discussed, folks running the most recent update of Tiger (OS 10.4.11), as well as those using any version of Leopard (OS 10.5.x) can now use the All-New Yahoo! Mail with confidence.
  • Improved support for Firefox 3.0 Beta - This one is tricky. Our guys worked hard to make sure that the release would support Firefox 3 as well, but then the Firefox folks went and updated the browser again before I posted (how dare they! ) so we are still working out the kinks. But don’t worry, because we are on the case.
  • Auto-Save to Compose – you can still click the Save Draft button, autosave.pngbut even if you forget we’ll save it for you. You can also review when the last time a message was autosaved by looking to the right of your compose toolbar.

Something that is important to note, once you send a message the draft automatically moves from your Drafts folder to your Sent folder. You can override this action by holding the Shift key when sending your message.

Since installing Firefox 3, I am unable to use BT Yahoo Mail (new version) and have had to revert to BT Mail Classic. How long will it be before BT Yahoo can fix this problem?

Also, how about a “favorite folders” pane like in MS Outlook..?? This would be especially convenient when you have alot of folders.

in regards to new Yahoo Mail features. I would like to see more color options available for the mail interface. The select few are quite feminine. Also, how about an audio player integrated into the mail interface..?? Hotmail offers this and it is AWESOME when you receive voice mail or sound files in your inbox….I created a hotmail account just to take advantage of this feature.

One of my main gripes with the New Yahoo Mail is that there is no option for me to set the default in how I want the messages to appear… I want my new messages at the bottom- and I don’t want to have to sort by date everytime I check mail, or when I go from one folder to the next.

Also- is there ANY hope of bringing Photo Mail back? Especially when working in a field where photos are a necessity- being able to drag and drop the photo’s in the actual email instead of doing attachments was SOOOO much better!

I agree with Nancy. I’ve had my Yahoo Email account for 10+ years and the Gmail Notifier for OSX is a wonderful feature that would that allows you to preview New Incoming Email Headlines. At the moment, I keep my browser open at all times because I like to see my incoming emails although this is a waste for the CPU and Memory. Currently Yahoo Mail Widgets simply do not emulate what Gmail Notifier accomplishes. I really hope a Yahoo Notifier will be created in the future to compete with the Gmail Notifier. Life would be so grand and that way I wouldn’t have to succumb to Gmail!

Please Yahoo Team consider this feature =)

The only feature missing now is getting rid of that vile vertical banner that clogs the reading space and won’t go away.

Now that we can download all attachments in one step, I’d like to see the ability to attach more than one file at a time, too!

  11. ann says:

Whenever I want to download picutes with a email on attachments and do browser, I get dropped over and over and can’t send more than a couple at a time.

I have to start from the beginning of my email.

Also a lot of “This page can’t be……………

We are having difficulty reaching Yahoo! Mail from home since March 22, 2008. It is sporadic at best. I can’t check it from work due to the firewall. Our ISP states they are not having the problem. I’m running McAffee Virus and Spy Sweeper. Help!

    re: BCC emails
Would it be possible to have the BCC email addresses visible to me, as the sender, in emails in the Sent folder? It’s good for referencing old emails, instead of having to guess who I sent the email too.

I love the other updates! Auto-save is great!!!

    Keep up the great work.

  17. Nick says:

Great stuff. But how about adding a labels feature like Gmail has? I find it more useful than mail folders. But since Yahoo! already has mail folders, you could add labels and have the best of both! :)

  18. Argent says:

odd, Yahoo’s never acted up on me…well except that first time i started using Firefox 3 (back in Beta 3)

  19. fra says:

i’d like to have the “multi message forward” feature, like that i can forward all the bulk mail to a reporting address (knujon) in just 1 click.
