I depend on the search function to keep track of my small business correspondence, and a few months ago, as others have noted, it stopped working properly. It's a VERY big problem for me, so PLEASE fix it!! I also have a gmail account for another business, and if the search doesn't start working asap, I'll have no choice but transfer all my yahoo emails to gmail and abandon my longstanding yahoo account. Today, I had to hand-search through three years of emails to compile a simple letter. Took me two hours. Very frustrating.

I've had a problem with search as well - contacted customer care, and the problem was fixed within 30 minutes. The representative had to change some setting.

You would think Yahoo would go through ALL accounts and change the setting, but I think they're betting that most customers don't use search, and so maybe it's a setting that's turned off by default, unless you ask for it to be turned on.

I also have this problem and have for months. I have had my 2 (1 work, 1 personal) yahoo mail accounts also for 10 years. I contacted them several months ago and have not seen a resolution. I am very close to switching to gmail at this point. I already have the accounts set-up, I was just holding out a bit longer since all my email is in yahoo. Not sure how much longer I will put up with this. My work account gets upward of 30 - 50 emails a day, imagine just trying to find an email from a month ago. Ridiculous!

I'm having the same problem with the search engine; I cannot search back farther than July 2008, which is a *huge* problem. I need to clear out my email one of these days, and need the search function working properly.

I already have a gmail account for business-related material. I'd rather not switch over with this account, too. Fix please!

I have the same search problem. For me it always cuts off before 7/15/08. I have contacted them three times. They say they are working on it and it is "high priority." I find it hard to believe that they can't fix it. Personally, I dont think anyone is working on anything. This is a crucial feature for many users and it can't take 2 months to fix. If the fix were in beta testing or quality assurance testing, they'd say so. It is no where.

why is there no response from Ryan on this? Isn't that the point of this blog? To be a user interface????

I can search back to the beginning of July, but not earlier.

Throwing in my 2 cents about search not working. I also have gotten the automatic response from Yahoo customer care but apparently "customer care" is a misnomer.

I'm switching to gmail.

Hi....the search problem roughly appeared 2-3 months ago; then it got better temporarily for 10 days or so, then unfortunately, it is back again. I contacted Yahoo customer care and I keep getting told that Yahoo engineers are aware of this issue and are working on it....I certainly hope it gets resolved soon!
