Voting is now open for the 2008 Webware 100!

With the NBA All-Star game drifting into our collective rearview mirrors, and the Baseball season yet to begin, I thought now would be a fitting time to offer up something to satisfy some of those online ballot box stuffing urges: the 2008 Webware 100.

If you aren’t familiar with the Webware 100, here’s a little description from their site:

This is our yearly awards program where Webware users vote for their favorite Web 2.0 apps. In the 2007 Webware 100, there were more than 480,000 votes cast. And this year we have an even stronger lineup of finalists, so we expect very active voting.

Webware

And it just so happens that Yahoo! is nominated in quite a few categories, so have a look, vote for Yahoo! products, and tell your friends to vote for us too!

There still seems to be delays in sending email, even after Yahoo claims to have addressed the problem. Earlier today an email took 3 hours and 10 minutes. This evening it went right through. There is no rhyme or reason to when it happens. Can anyone explain what’s happening?

Also, the link for the “New Yahoo” email preview is still dead .I had to return to the “Original Yahoo” to access my mail.

I’m paying a premium for “Mail Plus” which is turning out to be a “Big Minus”. What gives?

Ken

Ryan, doesn’t it tell you something when so many bug reports are coming in on your blog comments? The Y! customer service is nothing but high vacuum technology — it sucks. Took me 3 go arounds before they would acknowledge my issue was a bug in Y! Mail and forward it to development. Now I hear nothing. Wish I could get a status on when the problem will be fixed. I happen to be a paying customer of Y! Mai, but apparently $$$ doesn’t mean anything to Y!…

I voted last year.. but I don’t think YMail is in a form which makes it the best webmail…

We are waiting for that day when its fully accessible… on all major browsers atleast

I don’t use yahoo mail as my server, even though I do have it. But I SEND lots of things to yahoo addresses – most of which come right back to be saying the message was not delievered because of some reason with the Host. In checking, I find some people actually did receive their email – some never did. What’s up with that?? I do several list mailings, and yesterday I got a notices that 57 of them did not go through – all with Yahoo addresses. This is getting old really fast.

I just went online and voted for the webware 100. I voted for everything Yahoo!I have MyYahoo!set as my homepage and love everything about it.I have my bookmarks saved on del.icio.us.I have my pictures saved on flickr. The only toolbar I use is the Yahoo! toolbar.I belong to 3 groups on Yahoo!groups, and use classic mail because I think it is still the best mail for my needs.I have never had any problems with any of these services and just wanted you to know how much I love Yahoo! and to say KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

Spam filter here needs lots of work.. keep getting these hey messages that contain 3 or 4k that say join me at blank.com(fill in the blank)
It keeps going into my inbox, I mark it as spam and its in there the very next day, the same spam.
Also more and more messages that are not spam are finding its way to the spam folder.

I vote every year on the Webware 100. My decisions are based on my knowledge and the overall sum of my experiences with various sites and their products. I will never vote mindlessly for anything just because it’s “Yahoo!” or whatever else. That’s unintelligent and degrades the validity of the results. Everything needs to be evaluated and judged on its’ individual merits. When considering sites and services many things like honestly addressing issues and a site’s track record on responsiveness are very important. Ignoring or glossing over valid criticism, problems, bugs etc. just to continually hype how “new and good” you preceive yourself really doesn’t cut it!! As pointed out by Ken, Dandapani, CJ and many others the past few weeks, Yahoo! seems to not want to see or deal with reality. Y! Customer Service is a shadow of its’ former self. Guess it gets in the way of your agenda of blatant self-promotion.

I wonder if there is a way to turn “Draft autosave” off temporarily. I think it might be interfering with attaching image files. Attaching image files is a very slow process that sometimes never finishes.

Yarhoo, what is wrong with you, you have been steadily going down hill for the last few months. I have been trying to open Yahoo Messenger and my mail all afternoon and it is now midnight local time and still no joy. Everything else opens OK, but not Yahoo mail, time you smartened up.
