There have been a handful of comments across recent posts describing SMTP delays that some users have been experiencing when sending messages.

(Added 2/20 - 12:15PM)
If you aren’t familiar with SMTP, it’s an email protocol that would come into play for folks sending Yahoo! mail via Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc. If you are accessing your mail through the web interface this does not apply to you.
(end update)

I wanted to let everyone know that we are aware of the issue and our engineering team is working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience.

Regards,
