When was the decision made to automatically shift all non-desktop browsers over to Mobile Yahoo! Mail?
As far as I know, video game consoles like the Nintendo Wii aren’t portable and should be returned back to normal Yahoo! Mail.
I constantly hate trying to log into normal Yahoo! Mail on my Wii console only to be redirected to Mobile Yahoo! Mail with no option to go to normal Yahoo! Mail.
Video game handhelds (like the Nintendo DS) are fine for redirects to Mobile Yahoo! Mail though.

November 29th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
I tried the beta mail but it was too slow and the drag to file feature would often put the message in the wrong file. I ended up going back to the old format where I’ve been ever since. If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.
November 29th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
Okay, I am now able to delete, reply, and forward email messages. Thank you for fixing it. Any info on why that happened?

How come no one comments on the fact that ever
since the address book was renamed contacts it
no longer inserts the To address when composing
an email?
It’s actually easier to keep addresses in a
WordPad file and copy and paste than it is to
use the Contacts. Easier to organize also.
Comments apply to the classic Yahoo, the new
ones address book is not at all user friendly
when it comes to organizing.

There is a glaring hole in Yahoo mail. You cannot filter using the “BCC” field. Filters only works for “To” or “CC” field. I received lots of spam because the senders are putting my address in the BCC field. I tested this myself!
November 30th, 2007 at 5:27 am
Can somebody help me??? For about a year now, i cannot receive email in my Yahoo email account from some users that also use Yahoo. Some I get, and some I don’t. I can no longer even send an email to myself using my Yahoo email. What’s up with that??? What good is an email account that just get SOME of it’s incoming mail???

RyanK,
Couple suggestions here:
- Why not leverage http://answers.yahoo.com when you need to ask a question and get sensible answers (there’s even a section for Y! Mail Classic and Beta) and then point from here, that way we could “moderate” ourselves and have the best/useful content soar. In the blog – I believe a bit of moderation or some http://recaptcha.net love would help and I personally won’t mind it given it’s for “a good cause”.
One BIG bug report:
- I’m using the All-New Mail, in Firefox, Konqueror and IE on Linux,Solaris and Windows, and whenever I type mail.yahoo.com on the address bar I get redirected to a page that contains: the news, weather, ads, some Liam cartoon, anything, but my mails. and then I have to click either a tab or a link to get to my mails.
So here’s the bug when I type mail.yahoo.com, I let you guess what I would like to happen. Yeah! you’ve got it, I want to read my mails. (IIRC this sole bug was even reported by the WSJ guy on the video you posted earlier).
Thanks, regards and keep up the great work.

When trying to log onto my account in Finance.Yahoo I get sent to the Edit page instead of the sign-in page with no link to sign-in. The only way to get to my portfolio is to ask for a quote and then Add the stock to my portfolio; this sends me to the sign-in. Please fix.

Using Firefox browser.
The new version tells me I need Java installed.
Java IS installed and IS activated for Firefox.
Something wrong there.

To Mithrin:
Just a trick I found out back in high school that might help you. Try visiting another country’s version of yahoo. I notice they’ve changed things from back when I did it, but it used to work around the ymail block. Try visiting http://uk.yahoo.com/mail or http://au.yahoo.com/mail and see if it helps at all.

As a visually impaired user, I keep my browser text size set to “larger”. I would love to take advantage of the new features in the new Yahoo mail but cannot easily navigate the new set up. With larger type, fields are crowded & overlap, as do buttons & links. There are none of these issue with the Classic version so I continue to use it (sadly). I sure wish you could work it out for the new version.

Regarding comment 9292 (Mike), push the “To:” button to get the list of addresses. You can use the Ctrl key to select multiple entries.
Ryan, we need topic threads in this blog so that replies can be attached to specific comments.

Once again I am not able to delete any emails. This feature worked yesterday. Please help.
November 30th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Regarding comment 9346 (Alex), I hate moving ads too so I now use Firefox with the “AdBlock Plus” extension to get rid of ads. I also use the extension in Firefox to toggle the browser into IE for rare sites/popups where Firefox is not supported.

Ever since you started to “tinker” with the mail again, my mail notices on the toolbar and on my Yahoo home page are wrong. It will say I have 6 new mails, and maybe I have one or two. Or it will say I have one new mail, and i go to the trouble of opening it only to find I have none.
What’s with that??
November 30th, 2007 at 7:31 pm
its wild yahoo does that some times

The “All Feeds” RSS symbol in the folders list is always orange, even when I have no new posts. Shouldn’t it be gray when there aren’t any new posts, so I don’t have to check my feeds for nothing.

December 1st, 2007 at 11:43 am
The Yahoo toolbar email button alway says there’s an unread message in my inbox. I’ve updated the toolbar and it’s still always wrong. This is just one of many features that seem to be all bugged up.The email alert that Messanger has is far more reliable.
December 1st, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Heglameister (comment 9589), I use the “Refresh page” button to update the mail icon on My Yahoo, so I don’t have much need for that toolbar. I believe if Yahoo Messenger is running, your mail icon on the toolbar will monitor your mail. I think Firefox has an extension for yahoo mail monitoring too.

I hope that I will get my friends advice but he will never email me back and I really want him to
December 1st, 2007 at 2:23 pm
Why mess with a good thing? If you have to make changes, just add a little to what’s already proven to work just fine. I hate the new Yahoo. Why did I have to spend 5 minutes looking for all my contacts in my address book? I say if it’s not broken, DON”T try to fix it! I’m sticking with the good old “tried and true”!

I will stay with the old yahoo mail as I like it, know how to use it, and it works for me. Like someone said if it not broken don’t fix it.

i learned my lesson regarding to those people whom you trust?!! because they are like termites little by little destroying you. watch your words in every word you say that one day it could turn back to you and destroy you. coz there are people who enjoys the satisfaction of doing bad things.

Hey. So, how do I start my own blog?
December 1st, 2007 at 7:06 pm
Everytime I go to mail I am forced into the new mail page which does not load fast and then I get a box saying ‘mail is slow try switching back to classic mail’ and lets my click to get my old mail. How can I stay with my classic mail that worked so well for me?????
December 1st, 2007 at 9:04 pm
1. classic ads are annoying when a list moves where I was clicking and the wrong item is selected- that’s the benefit of the NEW Mail… maybe the ONLY benefit.
2. waiting to read mail because an ad has to load is inane – as bad as waiting for a TV ad to pass to see the rest of the reason I turned on the TV.
3. impossible to change My TV setting on My Yahoo module – keep getting a blank window- who is working at Yahoo? Anyone? Hello?

Ryan,
Wow, pretty amazing how useless and not applicable these comments are.
I just have one. I love to hear anything about plans to better integrate the Yahoo calendar into the new Mail. I love the new mail, but heavily use the calendar as well. It would be great to know if we should expect anything. The blog seems to be silent on the topic.
Thanks
michael

I created a new Yahoo account a few weeks back. It worked for about a day. Then I started getting failure notices when I tried to respond to emails. I sent them to Yahoo! and they said there wasn’t anything they could do. I ran into a few of my friends one night and they said, we tried to email you, why haven’t you responded? I never got the emails in the first place. I thought about it for a minute, I hadn’t gotten an email in over a week. Including responses to ones I had sent out. I tested the account my sending messages to and from another email account that I have. Nothing came in and nothing went out. The email account doesn’t work AT ALL. I contacted Yahoo customer service and they said, TOUGH LUCK, they did NOTHING. I was starting this group for concerned citizens where I live and this was the email account for that group. I already have it published all over the place, in the paper, on the city’s website, etc. And now I have to go get another email address. Yahoo sucks.
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:13 am
Any chance you will add something like ‘boxtrapper’ that can cut ones spam a lot by requiring the sender to click on a link to verify that they are not joe-jobbing the email?
December 3rd, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Just a suggestion. Never open the e-mail box in Yahoo web unless you have no intentions to communicate with their customer service. I was trying to recover my ID and wrote 3 letters with zero feed back. Very disapointed. There are a lot of others e-mail providers up there. No wonder people prefer to use Google to open up a mail box.

Hi Ryan–
I seem to be having the same problem as “LinDav” who submitted his or her complaint back on 01 December 2007.
I will go to open my “Beta” mail page and after about five seconds it will tell me to go to my “classic” page. Only mine gives me that suggestion over my greeting at the top of the page. You know, kind of like a double exsposure photo. What gives???
Prob#2: You guys are not filtering out spam in my opinion. I do my part by going in to have my address “removed” from their lists and reporting them to you as spam as best as I can but three or four days later I am getting the same garbage from the same jerks. On average I seem to be getting about about twenty (20) of these a week. And if I am really lucky I might get this many or more a day or maybe I will get a new one offering me Valtrex over the internet. Now really, does my name tell you I would need that??? :o) Believe me, to see me you wouldn’t think so either. :)
And finally, Prob#3: I bank with Washington Mutual and use this account for any “cyber” mail they need to send me. The problem? They for some reason are being denied access. Five or six attempts have been tried but obviously no success has been made. Any suggestions?
Thanks
DeAnn

I usually use classic. I have to check my junk mail because a few of my important emails keep getting sent there. 2 questions. How can I get an email sender’s address to go to inbox vs. junk mail? Why can’t we spam from junk mail? In order to spam the senders, I have to send them all to inbox, then spam. Waste of time!
Thanks, Lisa
December 5th, 2007 at 12:20 am
just to clarify one of my questions….How can I get an email address to always go to inbox vs. junk mail. I run a farm and have to get emails from some vendors. Some of their mail goes to inbox and some to junk mail………….. Suggestions?

Curious about IMAP support. I’ve used Yahoo mail for many years but I’m being tempted by Gmail and it’s ability to support IMAP clients. When I’m home, I’d like to be able to use my desktop client via it’s IMAP connector. I don’t want to use POP since it’s a management nightmare. Can you tell us if it is coming anytime soon?
Thanks
