I may be quite proud of my recent screencast work, but in the event that there are people out there still seeking enlightenment (or simply a clearer description of how this works), I thought it might be nice to show you one of the newest additions to the Tutorials family: Text Messaging With Your Contacts.
The following sections are all included in the tutorial, and give lots of good examples and explanations.
BTW … our Tutorials team is always looking to make them better, so after checking them out please be sure to answer the “Was this helpful?” and provide any feedback you can!

Yahoo! Mail
I love having chat in Y! Mail, but I have a suggestion. Consider being able to click on mobile contacts for SMS as you can in the Y! Web Messenger.
Where is the old new email widget??? Mine has disappeared and I can’t seem to find it to reload…
How do I forward letters at the same time to all my emailers from my email list…..I am totally lost.
I have 600 names and I want to send out one letter…I do not know how to do this on the new system.
Thanks.
ummmmmmmm……..i agree your idea
this beta s quite exciting and i enjoy the features.
thanks for signing me up.
Wow I was wondering when I would jump out of beta too just like alot of others here and this morning BAM there it was. I love it too the SMS feature is so fast its amazing. Fantastic work Yahoo keep it up
I don’t get a text message option. Is this cuz you still have me on beta? Also, when will threading be enabled? The commands are there under extended navigation, but they don’t make anything happen. Also agree that paying customers shd get priority on switchover from beta, though I realize you don’t have paid server farms.
I can’ text on the beta version of yahoo. When are you going to release the non-beta version. I would like to test. This is frustrating!
UUMMM…. yeah so i’ve been sms messaging for over a month now. maybe longer. this forum is way outdated. and i am on the free YAHOO! account. so IDK what YALL are complaining about. but if you open your messenger. then put your cursor over a persons name your see the side thing pop up. click the picture of the cell phone its grayish black with a blue screen. thats sms. send the message. it is sent as a txt
Thank you ryan. I accidentally switched back to the original and then I could get back to the beta one. until I saw this. Thanks a lot
I agree with AWJ, I’ve been a paying Yahoo Plus customer for a few years, and I am also still using the beta site. You’d think a paying customer would have “preferential” treatment over non-paying customers.
i haven’t used it so farbut it seems to be a nice service
nuts

This is a little belated! I’ve been sending sms messages for a while now…
Wow.. right click on a contact and select ‘send sms message’ Glad there’s a tutorial to show me how to do that…
very good
Well, i am still on beta so never got to test it. But yahoo has done a great job making the mail lively & useful. Esp RSS, Chat are absolutely awesome.
I had once moved to other service but now yahoo seems more promising..
keep up the good owrk :)
It’s bad enough that they are teasing you with features you can’t use. But what irritates me more is that I am a paying Yahoo Mail Plus and as a paying customer we can’t get it first? BS.
I have had no problems with SMS text messaging. It works wonderfully for me.
I have to agree with all the first few posts. Why in the world would you post tutorials to a feature we do NOT have yet.
Sigh – one of these days Australia will be included in these things…
Thank you Sarah for the list – I appreciate it!
I normally use Yahoo! Help, but this time I made an exception.
Whoa a lot of hostility here…. I have to say I love Yahoo! Mail so far. I’m on Yahoo Plus, though my wife uses the free service and it works well too. The Beta is much better than the old Web 1.0 version. Thanks.
Still even as a paying mail user in USA I’m still on Beta and don’t have the SMS feature available to me. Too bad, it looks good.
And michelle, someone didn’t get 20yrs because Yahoo! didn’t contact YOU? Shouldn’t the prosecutors be handling any research related to a crime? Your story just seems strange.
Hi File,
You can find the list of countries that SMS works with in Yahoo! Mail Help:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/context/context-13.html
I would have found this (SMS) feature great (both in Yahoo Mail & Yahoo Web Messenger – the list of mobile contacts was integrated into YWM), if only it was available in countries all over the world (I don’t know if it’s even available outside of US)!
Therefore, this tutorial, as well as this feature(s) are being totally useless for those who (or who’s contacts) are not using phone numbers that are currently served by their (Yahoo!’s) SMS messaging partners.
My mail is still in the beta! When is it going to be upgraded to the final release?
I find Yahoo Mail great but I am unable to find SMS option in my mail. I contact support so they replied it is not available in pakistan yet. Why it is not for all??????????
I’ve had similar issues to Ronnie. Yahoo does not respond (I gave them an alternate email address). I may switch services.
I think it is funny that they keep posting tutorials on a version of an application that hasn’t been released yet. It is taking Yahoo so long to roll this out that when I finally do get the non-beta version, i will not remember these tutorials. Quit wasting time posting about new unavailable features and post about release timeframes.
PS And at a time when so many people are having problems with their email, their communications lifeline, “SMS Text Message Tutorials” are not what we’re looking for.
I haven’t been able to access my Yahoo mail since *Monday*. I contacted support, but of course, if they reply, ***I can’t see that either***.
I wonder if Yahoo is really aware of the level of anger and frustration at the complete LACK OF PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS on the main Yahoo page about the rollout process, which is leaving people like me wondering when, if EVER, I am going to have email again.
