I HATE the new Yahoo Mail! Since I switched to the new mail I cannot sign-out, forward an email, empty trash, switch back to the Classic Email. In other words, I cannot click on anything except close the mail window. I can view the inbox messages but it leaves them listed as 'unopened.'

I think the Nordtroms lingerie ad that I am forced to see when I check my email is overly provocative (It’s essentially softcore porn). I do not want to see this ad when I am simply checking my mail. It is not appropriate. I will switch to gmail if this ad or similar ads continue to bother me - Mark

I'm still waiting for the new mail to arrive, i would expect yahoo to at least give its customers some kind of timeframe. One feature i would really like is to make the existing calendar work with vista, then to make the new one ASAP and allow it so sync to all popular phones/PDAs. Also, how about a page which gives details of future product development (just like google?)

I'm still on mail Beta. I have been having trouble with the Mail Search function and am wondering if this will be cleared up when my account is moved to the released New Yahoo! Mail. The problem with my search is that, in most instance, doesn't return all the documents which contain the search term. The confounding part is that it sometimes does return all the docs. Thank you.

I hope I'm simply missing features because I'm still on the Beta. I disagree with the WSJ article. GMail is far superior to Yahoo Mail. The worst is Windows Live. Here are the reasons:

1. When I start up Yahoo Messenger, I prefer to appear offline. Yahoo Mail automatically puts me online if Yahoo Messenger is already started. This causes me to get IMs from friends which aren't archived for viewing in Yahoo Messenger. GMail keeps IM conversations. GMail keeps my contacts available in the sidebar.

2. The SPAM filters in Yahoo Mail have always sucked. Maybe I could spend time learning how to fix it. However, if I mark a message as SPAM, the filter should start filtering out messages like it. I'm tired of getting messages from the fake IRS, etc.

3. Perhaps Yahoo Mail has changed this... but I know from past experience that if I don't frequently check for new services that I have to opt-out of, I start getting SPAM from Yahoo's increasingly invasive partners.

4. Paying $20 to get POP access is a rip-off. Windows Live requires the paid version of Outlook. GMail has this feature for free. This one feature alone makes GMail win.

5. GMail uses Labels instead of Folders. This is a superior idea. This is another feature worth using GMail rather than Yahoo Mail.

6. GMail threads conversations. Yahoo Mail has no such feature. Keeping all the communication on a given subject together is like the frosting on the cake.

7. GMail has no graphic ads. There is only one text ad on GMail. It's easily ignored. Graphic ads are prime sources for spyware and malware. For those who are using Firefox, at least there is the essential AdBlock Plus addon that will block Yahoo Mail's ads for you.

8. I really don't like how Yahoo Mail opens immediately to news that I've probably already read or chosen to not read. I haven't found a news service that shows me news that I actually want to read.

9. Although it might be nice to access my Google Calendar in GMail, at least it's on my iGoogle page which is far more convenient and more regularly accessed. I quit finding value in My Yahoo to see if the Yahoo Calendar is now available there.

10. Google integrates all of its services better than Yahoo. I'm sure GMail will follow suit soon. Of course, I can access GMail from iGoogle for now.

There are some negatives for using GMail. In my opinion, those negatives are miniscule compared to Yahoo Mail. In addition, GMail's positives outshine anything Yahoo has to offer.
