Summer’s Here… Finally!!

Sun, sand and surf. How on earth are you going to check your email when on holiday? I figure you probably fall into one of 2 categories:

You are either:

  1. No work, no computers, no technology. You want to get away from it all and not be contactable. But if you’re going to be off globe-trotting around the world or just lazing on the beach for two to three weeks, why don’t you let your friends and family know that you’re away. Just use the “Holiday Response” in the Options menu of Yahoo Mail and respond to everyone when you get back. And now that you have unlimited storage, you don’t have to worry about pesky limits again.

or…

  1. An email junkie. You’re so connected that you check your mail everyday whether from your laptop, your friends’ laptop, a cyber-café or the hotel lobby. You just can’t go a day without checking your email.

Mail just got mobile
If you fall into the #2 camp, why don’t you take your mail with you? Use your mobile phone to check your mail. It’s easy and free (of course your provider might charge you for internet access). You can check it out if you have a WAP compatible mobile phone. Just type http://uk.m.yahoo.com into your phone’s browser and you can get your email, contacts, and even Yahoo! Messenger.

For a more enhanced experience, why not try Yahoo! Go. It’s a feature rich java application that makes it easy and fun to access the Internet. If you’re a true email junkie, then Yahoo! Go is for you. Check it out. All your emails are there when you want them. Email is automatically pushed to your phone and syncs with your Web account (for example: delete a message on your mobile and it is reflected on Webmail).

Believe it or not, I’m a #1 kind of guy.
Have a great summer!!

how do i transfer my address book from my ntl email page to yahoo

—-
Hi John,
You can import your contacts from NTL into your Yahoo! Addressbook.  On the Yahoo! Mail Beta page – Click on Options and then Mail Options.  On the left column you should see an item “Contacts Options”.  Click that and then click “Import/Export”.  If you are able to export your NTL addressbook into a .CSV file you will be able to import that file into your addressbook.

Hope that helps.

Hi ,

Thank you for the summer holiday wishes.

I am a bit confused, not sure what to do , its great to have ”unlimited storage ” facilities , but where shall I keep ”my photos ” in a secure private way without having to share them with the rest of the world ?
As soon as this is off my mind , I will have a great summer holiday.
With my best wishes. JP

Hi Jorge,
Why not try Flickr?  In your privacy settings you can set it so that only you can see your photos.  If you  have a Flickr account, go to You -> Your Account and then click on the Privacy & Permissions Page.  There you can change your settings so that you are the only one who can see your photos.

But why not just set it so that only your Friends and Family can view your photos?  That way you can share your photos but only the people that you invite can see your photos.
Hope that helps.

Can I access Yahoo.co.uk whilst I am in France – I go there regularly for long periods of time. Is Yahoo.co.uk a “webmail” like my other ISP Totalise/Madasafish? I can easily access Totalise/Madasafish in France, and I wish to do the same with yahoo.co.uk

Hi David,
You certainly can access Yahoo Mail when in France.  All you really need is an Internet connection and you’ll be able to check your mail from anywhere in the world.  When you get back, put a comment on this posting http://ymailuk.com/blog1/2007/06/07/where-in-the-world/ .
Happy travels,

Dear Andrew,

I am a fan of Yahoo Mail, I am using for many years already.

But there is a big issue in Yahoo Go.
I can’t read Cyrillic text in my messages. Most of my friends are Russian-speakers.

Will this issue will be resolved?

Thanks,
Artashes

—-
Hi Artashes,
Thanks for your comment.  I got in touch with our Mobile team and they tell me that support for Cyrillic text is not available at the moment.  He tells me that they have noted the request and will add it to their feature request list.  I can’t give you a timeline for when they will be able to include this in the Yahoo! Go application, but it is on their radar.
Thanks,
Andrew

To Davis Morris. I think you should re read the letter that was written by Andrew, as I believe you may have misread it. Andrew is quite correct with his punctuation.

Have been meaning to write but never got round to.

I pay to use Yahoo plus, but each time I try to read my mail, I cannot open my mail and have been adviced to use to old Yahoo mail everytime. So I do not see any reason to pay for something I cannot use

Yours Sincerely
Waiyin
