Find even more Mail news in the “Y-Mail: Yahoo! Mail Users Group”

There is a decent chance that many of you reading this found your way here from a link on the popular Yahoo! Experts Group known as “Y-Mail: Yahoo! Mail Users Group.” But just in case you didn’t, I feel compelled to return the favor (and maybe some of the traffic).

Billed as the “official” group for Yahoo! Mail, the “Y-Mail Group” (as it is often referred to) is moderated by 5 very dedicated users, and boasts enrollment of more than 3,000. With new discussions starting all the time you will always find some fresh conversations, and with so many experienced Mail users you are bound to find some great user tips.

Have you ever wondered if there was a way to use Yahoo! Mail Beta from home, but use the original version at work, and assumed you would have to constantly hassle with switching back and forth? Someone else already has and posted some advice. Maybe you want to designate Yahoo! Mail as your default email client within Windows. One of the users found the Yahoo! FAQ page with the detailed instructions and posted the link.

Just don’t forget, the Y-Mail Group is still a user group, and is run entirely by Yahoo! users. With that being the case the opinions expressed there are not necessarily the opinions of Yahoo!

Dear Yahoo. I need help retrieving my old emails.

I typed the hints into the box and clicked on search mail. I also tried the advanced search but no luck. I need to some emails that I emailed to myself during the latter part of last year and early part of this year but I can’t retrieve them. The searches only give me emails that contain my “search word and/or phrases” from july of this year. I need access to my older emails for court proceedings that are coming up. Please help.

I am always on the move; travelling to the Uk, germany, china etc.. I am a yahoo plus customer and since 3 weeks I have changed cell phones, from blackberry to HTC Touch Diamond and now I can no longer pop my email to my HTC because HTC only supports Imap instead of POP3. I have also tried downloading yahoo go this too does work on the HTC touch diamond. This is for me a nightmare. I have forwading it through gmail but this is not alway accuret. Sometimes it syncs and other times not for days! I have never had problems with my Yahoo plus mail account. should this problem not be resolved soon I ill be forced to open another email account which allows me to sync my mail on my HTC p3700.

I have chatted with a “live customer service agent” but Santi could not help me. Santi was very quick to answer and Polite.

So, here I am wondering if this comment, blogging will help.

I hope this issue will and can be resolved very soon.

    Regards,
    Sharon

For some reason the new email system does not work well for me (i.e. it’s very slow, it doesn’t let me delete any messages, and it displays an incomplete contact list with just the names and not the addresses). Could this be due to the fact that I use a Windows 2000 OS? Anyway, I would like very much to revert back to the classic email version, but I click on the “return to classic” format button and nothing happens. Can anybody help me out with this? Thanks you.

How do I get out of Yahoo mail beta and back to Yahoo mail classic?

  23. James Ronning says:

I like choosing my own color scheme on My Yahoo. Why not give some continuation of color scheme to the mail page. Also, would be nice to be able to choose colors for content boxes. I am a black, gray, charcoal, tan, (not flashy colors like that yellow. A light tan or light silver would be nice instead of that “ugg” yellow.

The tip for using the yahoo mail beta in one place and the “classic” elsewhere does not seem to work with Atralian yahoo! mail (mail.yahoo.com.au).

    Cheers

  25. RyanK says:

    Hi Dave,

I’ve confirmed that clicking on the spam button within Beta does in fact block that sender, however it does not display that name within your blocked list. Our product folks are looking into making that process better.

    Thanks!
    Ryan

  26. Cliff says:

The anti-spam effort seems to have become lax lately. Recently I get about 10 people a day from Africa who want to send me millions, if only I give them my bank account number. Can’t you get these to go straight to spam?

The spam filtering used to be great. Now it seems like it doesn’t work so well.

  27. RyanK says:

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the note. I’ll pass that along to the folks managing our anti-spam efforts.

    -Ryan

  28. Dave says:

    Hi Ryan,

Did you know that in the beta, when you click the spam button, it no longer adds the email address of the spammer to the “blocked” list. I tried this with the beta and saw the count of the “blocked” list never changed but then I switched back to the original yahoo mail and I clicked the spam link on another message and it added the address of the spammer to the “blocked” list.

    Dave

  29. David Lang says:

It would be great to have the ability to save more than attachment at a time. A simple button to “save all” could do the trick. This feature would greatly improve Yahoo to compete with other email clients.

  30. RyanK says:

    Hi TA Quang Dong,

Christina is absolutely right. You should not reply to that message and should instead use the “SPAM” button within Yahoo! Mail to report it.

    Robert,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    -Ryan

  31. Robert says:

When are you going to implement address book categories as in the old Yahoo Mail?

Categories could be implemented as sub-folders within the Contacts folder.

There is no easy way of picking a list of contacts to send email from filtered by the contacts.

I may not want to mail every one in the list, but I do want the list to choose from to be filtered by the category.

    Robert

  32. Christina says:

    Hi TA Quang Dong,
I believe that’s a fake. Why would you win a lottery from Yahoo but the reply address not be a Yahoo address. Also I’ve gotten a lot of these saying lots of different things and it always says they’re in the UK. Last, I don’t think Yahoo would ask you for all that information in an email. No respectable company asks for that kind of information in an email.

  33. TA Quang Dong says:
