Look What’s New… (Part 3)

It’s time for the third installment of the “what’s new with Yahoo! Mail Beta” series. Today let’s take a look at a new button on the menu bar in your mailbox.

New Button: Move to Folder
Nestled in between the “Spam” and “Print” buttons there’s a new one called “Move”. Now you can move a message to any folder you want with a couple of mouse clicks. Here’s what it looks like:

Move Button

It works well with the checkboxes (see Part 1), so that you can move a whole bunch of messages at once. Just put checks next to all the messages you want to move and click the move button. Once you’ve done that you can move them to any of your folders that you’ve set up. Or you can choose to delete them by moving them to the Trash folder or mark them all as Spam by moving them to the Spam folder.

Other ways to move messages
Don’t forget that you can still click and drag messages to move them. And of course there’s the shortcut key. If you don’t feel like reaching for the mouse, just hit the “d” key and use the arrow buttons to highlight the folder where you want to move the message(s).

Happy emailing!

I am loving the new Yahoo Mail Beta. I do have one request, though: in the old version, when we were “home”, or in Yahoo Mail’s face page, we could see links for all the folders that had new messages. Now we have to scroll down through our folders which, for someone like me who has lots of folders and all 15 filters used up, is a pain.

Could we get this feature back, pretty please with a cherry on top?

Hi Monica,
Thanks for your comment.  We always listen to everyone’s comments and suggestions.  I can’t promise anything, but we’ll put it on the list of future development possibilities.

Hi. I’ve always been a big fan of Yahoo! mail, think I’ve been using it for about 8 or 9 years or so. However now I access it on my mobile phone and can often not view the message/follow the links/see it properly.

As far as I see it, portable access devices form a big part of Web 2.0, and to remain competitive with other Webmail offerings, this is something that Yahoo! mail should definitely look into.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Andrew
there seems to be something missing, I cannot insert photos into my emails any more, am I just not finding the button?
Doreen

Hi Doreen,
Unfortunately Photomail is not integrated into the Yahoo! Mail Beta.  You’ll have to switch back to the classic mail.

Hi Bill,
You sure can.  Just click the link at the top of your browser called “Switch Back”.  There’s even a blog post on it :).

Why do I keep getting told there is something wrong with my browser cache and cant get the new mail up, please delete cookies etc? If I then do that I still cant get the new mail! Yet, I had new Yahoo Mail for a good long time, then all of a sudden this came up and wont let me get new mail back… I now have to stick with old version, . Why is this please??

Yours,

David.

Hi David,
We have discovered that some users are prevented from using Yahoo! Mail by their personal Firewall. In particular, a firewall that has ad-blocking enabled can cause this to occur.  If you are using Norton Personal Firewall 2006, you can turn off ad-blocking by doing the following:

1. Go to Norton Protection Center
2. Click the “Norton Personal Firewall” tab
3. Click the “Norton Personal Firewall” button
4. Click the “Web Browsing” link
5. Switch “Ad-blocking” to “Off”

Or contact Customer Care for more assistance:  http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/general.html

I can’t even access my Yahoo mail! I can get everything else, calendar, groups, My Yahoo, but as soon as I hit the mail tag it just refuses. Other Yahoo mail accounts are OK. Any suggestions? Oh, don’t email me, I can’t read it!
Thanks

I am unable to read messages in my in box. The new yahoo only opens the header from whom the message comes and a big blank space as a text for me to read.

Direct me on how to use this new yahoo step by step. Urgent please

Hate the new yahoo, three quarters of the page taken up with allsorts and small space to read messages. Takes ages to get messages to a reasonable size. List of messages is also small and squashed. Far inferior to original yahoo, although this has now stopped printing out my message and only gives the header.

Unable to create a Yahoo ID to create an account. What a waste of my time. And I can’t email Yahoo directly to complain. I am unhappy considering this is supposed to be a premier service.
Please do not add me on to any mailing lists because I had to give my email address in the above spot. I am at this time forwarding my complain not soliciting for more junk email to be sent to me after this unhappy encounter with Yahoo. Mr/Mrs Yahoo please take note.
