Switching banks is hard. Switching between Yahoo! Mail Classic and the new Yahoo! Mail Beta is easy. In the time it takes you to lift the receiver off the phone and put it to your ear, you could have already switched from the original classic version of mail to the Yahoo! Mail Beta version.
Just have a gander at the top of the page next to the logo in the Yahoo! Mail window. You should see a link under your account name. If you’re using classic mail it says, “Try the new Yahoo! Mail”, or if you’re using the new Mail Beta it says, “Switch Back”.
You are welcome to switch as often as you like, and there’s not a bank fee in sight.

I have followed the instructions to make Yahoo! All-new Mail my default mail client, even installing Yahoo! Messenger but the option still does not appear in IE7 Internet Options.

I’ve done the same as you and the option does appear. Can you confirm that you downloaded the latest (non-beta) version which is 8.x, that you uninstalled to old version, and installed the full client. You need to install the “Yahoo Extras” that come with Messenger. Without installing “Yahoo Extras” you won’t get the option in IE.

Yahoo is big in words small in actions….
Big words about supporting all browsers with new beta. actions very very small. For 1 year we’ve told you about Opera, but nothing.
Seems that Yahoo is doomed to be yet another garbage mail adress…..
My Mac (G4) does not give me the option to ‘try Yahoo mail Beta’ and I want to upgrade to it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your comment. I’m afraid that, at the moment, Mac Safari Browser is not supported for the all-new Yahoo! Mail. If you would like to try it out, you can use the Firefox browser for the Mac and you’ll be able to use the new Mail. If you don’t mind using Firefox for the Mac, then you’ll be able to try it out.

I recently bought a “Dell Inspiron 6400″ which has Windows Vista pre-installed. To be honest I mainly use my pc for Yahoo emailing, so it was really important for me that my new laptop should be just as good for this.
The problem is that when typing in my Yahoo Beta email, it misses out some letters. I discussed it with Dell and they said that because the keyboard works fine in other applications, then its not a hardware problem, and they told me to raise this with Yahoo. NB I have an older Dell pc which runs on XP and when using Yahoo email with that one it all works perfectly.
An example of the problem when using Yahoo email is as follows. => “Once upn a time re was a litle girl caled Goldiloks who lived in a hose near the wods.”
See what I mean? Has anyone else had this problem using the combination of Vista/Dell/Yahoo Beta? Please help because at the moment my lovely new Dell laptop is otherwise a big waste of money.

Hi Rob,
We are aware of the problem that you are experiencing, and it is a known issue with the Chat function of Yahoo! Mail Beta and the Windows Vista Operating System. While we roll out the fix for the issue, there are a two fixes that should fix your issue
1. If you sign-out of Chat and stay signed out of Chat, then the issue should resolve itself.
2. You can switch back to the Classic Mail.
Also, the fix should be in a the most recent Windows Vista patch. If you do the most recent Windows Vista update it should also solve the problem, but we’re still verifying this solution.

Can I use the new mail? I have Windows 98 and I will not be changing it to XP
Another Opera user here, I like the new beta version, however I cannot make the switch as it does not support Opera. So for now I am stuck with the old version.

It’s been imposible to sign in, since I switched to yahoo beta (wish I hadn’t) everytime I try to, I get “the page cannot be displayed” or “cannot find server” but my friends who still have yahoo classic are having a blast. I’m stuck cos there is/are no link(s) to help me switch back. NEED HELP ASAP

Off the top of my head, I can’t see any reason why Yahoo! Mail would be asking you to download the Outlook Express 6 client.

Since yahoo mail has been upgraded, performance is absolutely poor. It takes forever to login and see the inbox. The previous version was much more reliable with regards to performance.

Hi Giri,
You should see the link at the top of the page called “Try the New Yahoo! Mail”. The only thing I can think of, is that if you’re email address is a .com (your_username@yahoo.com), then you’ll see somewhat different links at the top of the page.
If you’re a @yahoo.co.uk user, then you should definitely see that link.

I reluctantly switched back to Yahoo Classic Mail after testing beta for the last year. I was hoping Yahoo would sort out any issues which they did until recently, where they turned off the support for Opera.
It was great news to see Yahoo do the search deals and beceome the default search engine for both the Opera Mini and the Opera Search Portal, but is not willing to support the browser fully for their beta mail product. It was actually working a bit, but not any more.

Opera is my browser of choice and I have been passionate about Yahoo, but this doesn’t seem to be a relationship that works and I am considering giving up on Yahoo mail and isntead go with a faster supported competitor who offers a bigger inbox.

Hi Ron,
While it’s not possible to work off-line in Yahoo Mail, you can save your messages to a draft. When you’re composing an email, look for the button labeled “Save Draft”. When you click that button, it automatically save the mail to your “Drafts” folder.
If for some reason, you’re Internet connection goes down, the next time you log into mail, you’ll be able to go into your Drafts folder and continue to write your message.
